Geneva Airport Swiss Side Car Hire

Posted on January 9, 2012 by . 0 comments

Geneva Airport is unique in that it sits on the border for France and Switzerland and can be accessed (and exited) to/from either country.

As passengers have access to both countries when arriving in the airport car hire desks are available on the Swiss and French sides. At Car Hire Search we list which side of the terminal the car hire depot is on when you hire your vehicle. The Swiss side tends to be more popular for car hire pickups.

You will usually be allowed to take a hire car from Switzerland into France free of charge (as opposed to being charged a cross border fee). However, it is worth checking the terms and conditions before rental to ensure that this is the case.

The car rental desks within the Swiss side of Geneva Airport are located to the right as you exit arrivals just past the Montreux Jazz Cafe. Car hire services are provided by Hertz, Avis, Europcar, National and Sixt.

Can I hire a car if I have points on my license?

Posted on January 6, 2012 by . 0 comments

If you have penalty points on your license then you are still able to hire a car/van.

All the car hire companies stipulate is that your license is valid, i.e you have not been banned from driving as a result of any motoring offences. This is why they request your driving license card AND the paper part of your license before they will release the car.
