Returning your hire car to Palma Airport

Posted on July 2, 2015 by . 0 comments

Palma is a busy airport that operates a one way system around the terminal so it is worth planning your trip in advance when returning a hire car to the airport.

If you have hired a car with a full/full fuel policy you will need to top up the tank just before dropping off. There is a Repsol petrol station at the airport, the full address is

Repsol
Son Sant Joan
07611 Palma
Illes Balears

To access Repsol when dropping off your vehicle drive PAST the car hire section as you enter the airport and after passing the terminal bear right onto the slip road. You will see the Repsol fuel station around 500 metres on your right. Once filled up you can then enter the airports one way loop again and come off at the car hire area which is well signposted.

Note that if you have a car from Hertz or Thrifty you need to return the vehicle to the first floor parking area

Estate Car Hire

Posted on November 3, 2013 by . 0 comments

Here’s 3 quick tips on hiring an estate car

1. On Car Hire Search we always include the word ‘Estate’ in the name of the vehicle. So when you see a quote you can be sure that you are definitely going to get the estate car you require. You can also filter a search to show Estates only by selecting the option from the car class drop down menu.

2. If you are visiting the US they refer to estate cars as ‘station wagons’

3. As estate cars are usually hired to carry lots of luggage and equipment they can take a little more abuse than a normal hire car. Be sure to check yours for scratches and scrapes before driving away. Any damage should be documented on your rental agreement by the car hire company representative.

Meet & Greet Car Hire

Posted on October 1, 2013 by . 0 comments

Meet and Greet car hire facilities tend to be in place at airports when there is only a limited amount of space available for car hire company desks.

To keep costs down some car hire companies will base themselves off airport (typically within 1-2 miles) and collect their customers from the airport when they land. This is known as ‘Meet & Greet’.

The larger companies such as Hertz will sometimes run regular shuttle bus between the airport and their car hire desk. Hertz have such a bus in operation at Heathrow.

When making your car hire reservation online there are certain extras which are ‘payable on arrival’. This means you pay for them at the car rental desk when you collect your vehicle rather than pre booking them. The reason for this is the local car hire desk will manage their own equipment. Typical extras that are paid for on arrival are

  • Child Seats
  • Booster Seats
  • Snow Chains
  • Sat Nav

If you need to book ‘last minute’ car hire to be picked up within 24-48 hours then it is worth booking with a company that can provide fast confirmation of your rental and ensure your vehicle is ready to be collected at the requested time.

After booking at short notice, keep an eye on your emails to ensure you receive notifcation that the vehicle has been confirmed. If no confirmation is received within 5 hours we would recommend calling your car hire company with your booking reference to hand to check on your reservations status.
