  • This car hire experience was faultless! The airport desk was relatively uncrowded (especially compared to the mega queue at the hirer next to ours). The car itself (a free upgrade) was in great condition, and we had no issues. The return of the car also completely trouble free and very efficient, even with a large number of returns all coming back early on a Sunday morning. Would rate the hirer (Hertz) as 5/5 #

  • The car category I ordered was not available on pick up as out of stock over bank holiday weekend. I was provided with a smaller car and then had to return to hertz a week later to switch for a larger vehicle. Whilst inconvenient when travelling with a baby and lots of luggage, hertz supplied me with a higher category larger car and 2 free days hire for the inconvenience. Overall a good experience and good customer service by office staff and manager. #

  • Pick up was hassle free if a bit slow due to the large number of customers and only 2 service staff. Car was in reasonable condition. Return at Heathrow was hassle free with the shuttle bus driver very friendly and helpful. Generally a reasonable car hire experience. #

  • as usual there was a with of approx 30 minutes at the car hire desk. quick and clean check out once served though.
    Drop off was a real issue and Im glad you asked me to review it!
    I was able to select Agen airport (La Garrene) as a drop off location. We decided to drop the car off earlier than necessary as we had no need of it and what a good job we did! The air port consisted of a check in desk (one) an entrance, an exit and approximately 4 waiting seats. I was searching for a while for a hertz desk but there was one desk that was totally unmanned. Two pilots were loitering and they told me that had i come an hour later (my planned drop off time) the airport would have been locked up. There is no facility at all to drop off keys and I had to leave the keys behind the unmanned desk in the keen hope that the right person would receive them at the correct time. RIDICULOUS! I'm a worrier and don't like to leave things open like this as we've all heard the stories of how things like this can go very wrong! My husband who was picking me up was less inclined to worry and encouraged me to leave the keys. Fortunately, all was ok although we've yet to receive the petrol bill ( I sadly couldn't find a petrol station that was open on a sunday afternoon that didn't require a 'Carte Bleu' ).
    I really think that Hertz needs to address the issue of the terribly organised car hire desk at Agen Airport. When you hire a car you expect that there would at least be a safety deposit box at the drop off point for the keys. Should the airport have been shut (which I am advised it can often be if it has no planes arriving or departing) then the only option I would have had would have been to leave the keys in the car in the un-marked car park! Maybe it shouldn't be registered as locate for hire?drop off if it is so poorly serviced?

  • Did not provide the class booked had to take smaller. No refund/discount offered but demanded 2nd driver free. In docs it said we could drop off after hours but when we got there no secure parking and no dropbox. Had to drive to airport to return. Left bad taste all round.

The sat nav charge was not explained in that they wanted to charge more than the rental to return the sat nav back to pick up point, when the lady when asked confirmed the sat nav would stay with them anyway for use by another customer. the car hire worked out quite expensive at 100 a day for the cheapest car. We will probably take the train for our travel between cities next time. we were also charged for a full tank of fuel even though we had brought it back a third full. if we had known this or at least had it pointed out/emphasised we wouldn't have put 25 euros worth in to top up! #

  • The pick up of the car was very easy, with Hertz being located in the arrivals hall at the airport and the car being just outside the terminal building. Drop off was also very quick and simple even though we had an early morning flight. Much better than the airports where you have to take a bus to go and pick up the car. #

    However,. I booked on line and took the full cover insurance option. It was not revealed until after I had paid that the insurance was with a third party. Should there have been a claim then I would have had to pay in advance then deal separately with the insurance company. This should have been made clear before oohing as I would not have bought had I known this.

  • Great value for basic car hire at just over £200 for 2 weeks including snow chains.
    It is then a bit rough to get charged a quarter as much again, £50 to hire a ski rack for the two weeks. I could probably buy one for that price!
    Otherwise car was fine, new-ish, ready and signing up was all fine. Very helpful staff.

  • Overall I was unhappy with the service I got from Hertz. Some of the staff were brilliant (the two ladies at Fez and Ourzazate, where I needed to replace a burst tyre) and professional but there was one staff member who could not have been more dishonest. I picked up the car from the Fes downtown office. I was unhappy about having been given a car with a broken lower front light but let's let that pass. When I checked the petrol tank and pointed out that it was only 7/8 full, one of the male staff members told me it was "no problem".I insisted it got marked as such on the rental document but he refused saying it really was "no problem" and I could return it at the same level. When I returned the car to Agadir 31/32 full, the staff there refused to accept it as full, called the Fez office, only for the staff member there insist it was full when I picked it up. Eventually the lady in charge in Fez accepted my position. Clearly the male staff member at Fez had used the car without her knowledge and tried to pass the cost of the petrol he used to me by convincing me to part with a tank 7/8 full that was not marked on the rental document. #

  • Cant fault yourselves at all you provide a well priced rental rate and the car was right for us.

    However, Hertz took ?500 of my switch card as a deposit, they said it wouldn't come off just there incase of damage etc. When I went to use our card the ?500 was blocked off it, leaving us very short of cash for our weeks break. It is is the very small print off their T&C's which to be honest should be in your face bold writing not hidden away.

    We will still use your site for car hire however, if Hertz come up on our search we will not be using them again.

    We travel over to France 5-6 times a year and hire a car for each of these weeks and this is the first time we have came across this in years of renting cars in France. A big dissapointment for us to loose that amount of spending money which was freed up when we returned the car, not much use as we travelled home just after handing it back.

  • We got a Chevrolet Spark, which was pretty much the cheapest car we could find, as we knew we wouldn't be using it much, and didn't have all that far to go. We could have opted for a Ford Ka, but I chose the Chevy, having never driven one. It was in good condition, and very low mileage. It did what we asked of it, but wasn't much fun to drive. The pick-up and drop-off went very smoothly, and the Hertz people were very helpful and professional. #

    Until I wanted a new "Damages sheet" when I was expected to queue again - not happy about that.
    I did not need the car as long as expected, I was THEN advised that my "Rate" did not allow for such changes. I had NOT been told that when booking online.
    I was advised that I would get a refund on the insurance element of the cost by credit to my credit card account - 10 days later that has not happened!
    Basically fine, apart from the niggly things which irritate.
    The gateman at Heathrow definately needs a "customer care" lesson!

  • The car was available to pick up and was the right size for us. However when I booked I was told I had an additional young person driver included which I was told by hertz at pick up this was not true, meaning we had one less driver than planned.

    Also on returning to the UK I received an invoice for an extra ?103. On ringing hertz customer services I was told this was a billing error and that it will be refunded within 3-5 working days. However hertz have already taken my money. Although I understand there is certain administrative time to refund my account, I still feel it is unacceptable to have happened in the first place, leaving me without money in my account until it is sorted out.

  • a proper confirmation email - showing details of the booking - would have been extremely helpful at time of booking, rather than just a reference number.
    the queue at the desk at the airport was long and slow (~40 minutes).
    the woman who served us was very pleasant and helpful and the car was ready and a short walking distance away from the terminus.
    the car was fine - a bit bashed, but ran well adn fuel efficient.
    Why do hired cars never contain a manual? - for instance, the controls for the window wipers and headlights were quite complicated.
    it wasn't particularly cheap.

  • Picking up the car at Heathrow was very good - good service, the car was ready (and brand new). All worked well. Dropping it off at Bristol, on the other hand, wasn't so good. We had an early flight so the office was shut. But the instructions for how to drop off the paperwork were very unclear. The notice at the car park said to drop off the keys and papers in the box at the office, but there was no space to drop off the papers. In the end we forced them into the key-only drop-off box, but it wasn't easy and we were very confused. #

  • A very easy hire: it was convenient that the receptionist was English although I am sure a French one would have been just as efficient and personable. All instructions were clear and the car was fine. Paperwork completed within five minutes and I was on my way in ten.
    In a nutshell, good value and I'll certainly consider using Hertz again.

  • Miscommunication with Hertz as drop off location and time was not updated on system. Hertz consultant named Jas in South Yarra was very rude and unhelpful. Rolled her eyes several times and complain in front of me and another customer that she was suppose to close at 5:30 but was still there at 6. She said I had incurred an extra days charge but could not tell me the amount. Did not know how to close the rental hire and was unprofessional. The worst car hire experience and will never use Hertz again. #

  • I was not impressed by the womans attitude who served me. I had travelled all night and arrived at 8am. She said the car had been booked for 10am so I could not pick it up till then. Go for a coffee she said. Not the customer service I expect from UK. I was surprised at the price of petrol...and she then turned around and said this is what you get and have to pay for in the UK! I am a brit but work abroad and was surprised at the price. I felt as though I was having my head bitten off! #
