Alderney Airport Guide
Alderney Airport is the only airport in the island of Alderney. Alderney Airport is one of only three airports in the Channel Islands. It is the closest Channel Island airport to the South Coast of England and France.
There are daily flights to Alderney Airport from Southampton, Bournemouth, Guernsey and Jersey.
The main attraction of Alderney Airport is for private aviators as Alderney Airport supply low-cost, tax- and duty-free AvGas.
Alderney Airport has a small arrivals hall and a departure lounge with two check-in desks. The departure lounge also includes a security check area for passengers and luggage.
There is also a small airport buffet, which serves snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments from 7.30am until 6.30pm. The Airport Buffet also sells duty-free alcohol and tobacco and other duty-free goods as well as a range of souvenirs, cosmetics and perfumes.
To help pass the time while you wait for departure in Alderney Airport there is the infamous 'Knit-While-You-Wait' box situated in the departure lounge. The wool is donated from various businesses and locals and it invites the waiting passengers to knit a square. The squares are then sewed together to make blankets and then the staff of Alderney Airport sends them to third world countries.
