Oslo Airport Guide
Oslo Airport ? full name Oslo Airport Gardermoen - is located 50 kilometres north of capital Oslo. There is easy access to the airport from Highway E6 at Jessheim on a four-lane highway which runs right to the airport terminal. To get to Oslo Airport by train, you will find that all Regional trains on the stretch Skien - Oslo - Lillehammer - Trondheim run via Oslo Airport as does the NSB Local trains on the stretch Kongsberg - Eidsvoll. Alternatively the Airport Bus runs between downtown Oslo and Oslo Airport every 20 minutes daily.
Once at Oslo Airport you will find the usual shops and services most airports offer, including the standard Duty Free shop, bookstore, perfumery and clothes store.
Where Oslo Airport does outdo itself is in the food department. There are over 16 eateries, each one catering for a different taste and clientele. One of the best is the Salmon House Seafood Bar where you can get anything from a shrimp sandwich to a full-blown lobster dinner.
Another good point to Oslo Airport is that they offer a service that covers assistance to children travelling alone, passengers with various mobility impairments, the blind, visually impaired and handicapped. The service is organized so that when you travel it is possible to get assistance from the time you arrive at the airport all the way out to the aircraft. When you arrive you can be assisted from the aircraft door out to your awaiting means of transport. If you need this service, make sure you book!
